ERA President Stéphane Hénon on the ERA Convention and IRE/APEX

Stéphane Hénon, the president of the European Rental Association and managing director of Loxam, looks forward to the ERA Convention in Maastricht on 7 and 8 June as well as the IRE and APEX shows, and says ‘don’t take these occasions for granted’.

This June, the European Rental Association (ERA) will return to Maastricht for the annual ERA Convention and European Rental Awards dinner. The ERA Convention has grown over the years to become the not-to-miss meeting place for the European rental industry, bringing together more than 300 leading voices from rental companies and suppliers to network, learn and share.

This year’s event – ‘Investing in People’ – on 7 and 8 June, will address the challenges encountered by the equipment rental industry in attracting people and will develop the topics of retention, development, training, diversity and inclusion.‎

This year will also be a special event because, for the first time since 2017, it will take place alongside the International Rental Exhibition (IRE), the only trade show in Europe dedicated to construction equipment rental.

From 6 to 8 June, around 100 exhibitors will display the latest products and technologies designed to improve rental businesses, as well as showcasing the latest in low-emission equipment.

Visitors to IRE and the ERA Convention will also have free access to APEX, the aerial platform exhibition, which has another 120 exhibitors, and which is taking place at the same time.

This provides the several thousand visitors to these events – the ERA Convention, IRE and APEX – with the unique opportunity to meet equipment manufacturers and other suppliers to the rental industry, discover new equipment ‎and services, and debate the key issues for the industry all under one roof in only three days.‎

Three years ago, the ERA Convention, IRE and APEX were all cancelled because of COVID-19, which is why we have all waited so long for this opportunity to come round again.

Despite the challenging economic circumstances of the pandemic, followed by the uncertainties caused by soaring inflation and energy prices, our industry is going from strength to strength and I believe we will only get stronger.

These events, and not forgetting the European Rental Awards on 7 June, are an opportunity to celebrate our industry together, learn from one another, discover new solutions and make acquaintances old and new.

As the COVID pandemic showed, we cannot always take these occasions for granted, so we should seize on this occasion and make the most of it. I hope to see you all in Maastricht for another memorable event.
